Fallen (1998):
The stereotypical action codes in the trailer was the gun which would connote the continous death in the movie. The song that is sang throughout the trailer shows the effect of the 'fallen' angel on the innocent people around him which would connote the continuity of the mass murder. The style of writing in the ending of the trailer has secret codes which are also shown when the protagonist (Denzel Washington) is questioning the secret codes that are left behind by the killers. This symbolism is also another convention of thriller as it adds to the mystery of the group of killers.
